Everything about Easton Lincolnshire totally explained

Easton is a village just off the A1, north of Woolsthorpe-by-Colsterworth and Colsterworth in south Lincolnshire. There is a 'lost' walled garden, undergoing renovation as of 2005. The village is still largely the same size as it was at the time of the Domesday Book. Sir Henry Cholmeley bought the manor in 1592, his direct descendant Sir Montague Cholmeley rebuilt the village in the early nineteenth century. The main house, Easton Hall, was pulled down in 1951 after occupation by the army during the war. The Cholmeley family still live in the village and are responsible for the revival of the gardens of the old hall (External Link), now regularly open to the public with a tearoom and giftshop. Nearby on the B6403 is a large frozen vegetable processing factory, owned by PAS (bought by McCain in 1982). The River Witham passes through the village.
